Mancon was a business developing company in the 1980s. It took enormous risks with investments and was bankrupted in 1989. Over 4 000 small investors lost their money and also some Finnish banks got huge credit losses.
Advertising of the company itself and its share issues was pretty profuse until the ugly end. Furthermore the concern structure was made very complicated and therefore determining of the insolvency was unusually difficult. After the bankruptcy it was generally thought, that the name was an omen: the ManCon was after all a ConMan. That’s why Mancon has been called as the Fraud Queen among the Finnish listed companies.
The share of Mancon was listed in the Helsinki Stock Exchange from 1985 to 1989.
Nature of business: Venture capital and development company.
