Perinteikäs teollisuusyhtiö Rauma-Repola syntyi vuonna 1952, kun Rauma-Raahe Oy, Repola-Viipuri Oy ja Lahti Oy yhdistettiin. Yhtiö keskittyi metsäteollisuuteen. 1970-luvun alussa toimintaa laajennettiin konepajateollisuuteen hankkimalla tamperelainen Lokomo Oy sekä aloittamalla öljynporauslauttojen valmistus Porissa. 1987 hankittiin vuonna 1853 perustettu W. Rosenlew Oy. Suurin kansainvälinen huomio liittyi kuitenkin Rauma-Repolan valmistamiin MIR-sukellusveneisiin, jotka se toimitti Neuvostoliiton tiedeakatemialle 1987.

Rauma-Repola oli pörssissä vuodesta 1954 lähtien. Yhtiön itsenäinen elämä päättyi 1.1.1991, jolloin Rauma-Repola ja Yhtyneet Paperitehtaat fuusioitiin uudeksi Repola Oy:ksi. Repola oli aikanaan Suomen suurin teollisuusyritys. 1995 Repola yhdistyi edelleen Kymmene Oy:n kanssa UPM-Kymmene Oyj:ksi. Rauma-Repolan metalliteollisuus eriytettiin puolestaan ensin Rauma Oyj:ksi, joka fuusioitiin sittemmin Valmetin kanssa nykyiseksi Metso Oyj:ksi.

Yhdellä optiolla sai merkitä 1 uuden Rauma-Repolan sidotun I-osakkeen hintaan 35 FIM. Merkintäaika oli vuosina 1988-1993 vuosittain 2.1.-30.11.

”Rauma-Repola Corporation”.

A multifunctional company Rauma-Repola was established in 1952. It made ”everything but the fob watches” as the former chief of the company, Mr. Tauno Matomäki, said. One high-tech product of Rauma-Repola was famous MIR submarine. Rauma-Repola delivered them to the Soviet Union in 1987 and caused a huge diplomatic stir between the great power states.

Rauma-Repola was combined with United Paper Mills company in 1991. The result was Repola Ltd, which was the largest company in Finland. Nowadays the forest industry parts of Rauma-Repola are a part of UPM and the heavy metal business belongs to Metso. They both are big listed companies in Finland.

The share of Rauma-Repola was listed in the Helsinki Stock Exchange from 1954 to 1990.
