Maakansa Ltd was established in 1950 to publish Maakansa newspaper. The first number of the paper was released already in 1908. Name of the paper was changed to Suomenmaa in 1965. Its publisher was also changed to Suomenmaa Oy.

Today the newspaper is released by Joutsen Media Ltd. That paper has been whole its history politics related as an organ of Agrarian league / Centre party.

This particular company was merged into Kirjapaino Lause in 1990. Title Maakansa means ”rural people”.
