A cereal mill of the farmers was established in 1939. The mill produced also fodder and malt.

In 1987 Vehnä was merged with a local vegetable oil factory Kasviöljy Oy to form Raison Tehtaat Oy. That united company is nowadays called Raisio Ltd, and it’s one of the biggest foodstuff factories in Finland.

The share of Vehnä was listed in the Helsinki Stock Exchange from 1981 to 1988. Shares of Raisio are still listed.

Lounaissuomalaiset vehnänviljelijät perustivat Vehnä Oy:n vuonna 1939. Yhtiön oli määrä jauhaa osakkaidensa tuottamaa viljaa ja markkinoida jauhoja. Sodan sytyttyä suunnitelmien toteutus viivästyi, mutta mylly saatiin silti käynnistettyä vuoden 1942 lopulla. Mylly valmistui todelliseen tarpeeseen, koska suuri osa Suomen myllykapasiteetista menetettiin luovutettujen alueiden mukana Neuvostoliitolle.

Mylly laajensi rehutuotantoon vuonna 1948 ja olutmaltaisiin 1950. Vehnä Oy Ab ja sen naapurissa sijainnut Kasviöljy-Växtolje Oy Ab yhdistettiin vuonna 1987 Raision Tehtaat Oy:ksi.

Vehnä Oy oli listattuna Helsingin pörssiin vuodesta 1981.
